Biedermeier Vienna regulator.

Circa 1840, Vienna

Fully restored with a two year guarantee.

Dimensions: 110.00cm high x 30.00cm wide x 14.00cm deep

Eight day, two-train weight driven movement that strikes the hours and a single blow on the half-hour on a light steel gong. A gilt cast brass bezel surrounds the 16cm enamel dial and fine blued steel hands. The enamel dial has its original finish, which has not needed to be restored though there are some faint surface scratches.
The case has a number of features typical of the later Biedermeier period, such as the applied embossed detail to the rounded corners of the door and base as well as the pierced fret on the top. The case is veneered in rosewood with boxwood edging, whilst the backboard has a panel with a mitred cross-grained surround.
