The ormolu case with graceful swans retains its
original gilding.
Silk suspension movement, count wheel strike on a bell.

6” pierced, engraved and silvered brass dial with
the signature and address;
82 High St , Whitechapel.

Movement with lyre shaped plates and cast brass
feet. The clock is in good original condition
complete with dome ( not photographed) and
flame mahogany veneered plinth and velvet
covered top. Circa 1850, the company are
recorded as working at this address between
1849-1851.
Height to top of the dome 15 1/2”.

hands. Height 13 3/4”, depth 5” Circa 1820

1889. Striking the hours and half hour on a bell. Fine cast brass case with engine turned detail.
Original ormolu and bronze patination. Enamel
dial. Height of clock 350mm.

A typical example of a good French decorative
clock. The castings on this portico clock are
beautifully chased and finished. The case also
retains its original mercury gilding which is
burnished on the highlights giving the clock a very
attractive variation of soft colour. Fine quality
movement signed Fort A Paris. Empire style,
Circa 1820.
